Magic Of The Dance
Gordon
Cormier / Socan
There's a full moon tonight
magic in the air
There's a twinkle in the eye
of everyone here
And a sound so sweet
that it stirs the soul
Before the night is over
everyone will know
It's the magic of the dance
magic of the dance
the magic of the dance
magic of the dance
It's been a long week
fingers to the bone
Gotta head out tonight
and I won't be alone
Gonna tap my shoes
to the rhythm of the sound
The music started playing
the crowd is gathering round
For the magic of the dance
it's magic of the dance
the magic of the dance
magic of the dance

Calling Out His Name
Gordon
Cormier / Loretta Johnson / Socan
87 years have come and gone
first time a widow, it's hard
moving on she tells her friends she's
doing fine this evening her grandson will be staying through
the night
but no one comes to listen to her stories
no one's there to answer when she calls another night
her cries will
break the silence no one's there
to catch her when she falls
On stormy nights she sits
there by her window
Listening to the raindrops
through the pain
Trying so hard not to remember
But she's calling out his name
She can't remember life
without him
She can't forget the years
they've shared
How can she make it
through tomorrow
Without him there
They were married in a little
country chapel That's where
they celebrated 50 years
They built their lives
around a loving family
No strangers to the
heartaches and the tears
It's not the first time she's
lost a loved one
Her faith in God's been
challenged in the past
Her oldest son was taken
much too early from a life
that he was living way too fast

Keeping Myself Company
Gordon
Cormier / Brent Kendall / Socan
Looking out across the deep
blue sea there's nothing left
like there use to be
but I still cherish the land
I live on the land my father
gave to me and all my
brothers that came before me
they knew it was time to leave
so here I am living in the old house
keeping myself company
Back in the days when we were young
We worked hard but we sure had fun
There's nothing better then
music & friends
And we sure hoped it would never end
The other day the phone rang it
was an old friend of mine
lets get together to pass some time
it's good to see you, you sure
are doing well
but things around here
have been an uphill climb
and there in the corner sits
my old guitar
covered in dust and going no where
but I still hear the music playing
it sure is good to have you here

Not Me, Not Now
Gordon
Cormier / Mallory Johnson / Socan
Not me, not now
I'm not ready for your style
Not me, not now
I'm not much older than a child
I'm not interested in trying
you don't have to show me how
Not me, not me, not now
You tell me this wont hurt me
you make everything sound cool
I'm not the only girl
that you've taken for a fool
I don't like where this is going
it's much more than I'll allow
Not me, not me, not now
It's hard to do the right thing
when pressured by your peers
But if we stand together
we can overcome our fears
We can join our voices
everyone will hear us loud
Not me, not me, not now

Saturday Night Ceilidh
Gordon
Cormier / Socan
The spirits are calling it's
time to come home
Back to the valley of the winds
Where we grew up on music,
family & love
And hearing our
grandparents sing
I remember a time not so long ago
When the old folks would
gather to play
they'd pass on their knowledge
through stories & song
But it's not much like that these days
And we're having a ceilidh
this Saturday night
In the house where our
grandparents lived
And just like the ole times
there'll be homebrew & wine
We 'll play the tunes that
all the old folks did
There's a fiddle in the corner
and a squeezebox on the shelf
And the spirit of the old
folks at the door
I can still see Johnny Archie
with the fiddle on his chest
And uncle Frankie stepping
on the floor
The songs are no different
and the tunes are still the same
Just another generation here to
play and I know one thing's for
certain as the kitchen comes alive
This one's gonna see the light of day

If Someone Would Care
Mallory
Johnson / Socan
Have you ever thought
of being made fun of
By an enemy or even a friend
How hurtful it could feel
how it strikes pain in your heart
How hard it is for them to blend in
Go to school every day
coming home with tears
No one there to comfort
their worst fears
Crying in bed at night
wishing someone was there
Thinking life would be easier
if someone would care
Called names that aren't pleasant
whispers that are cruel
Getting blamed on for
things they don't do
No one seems to listen
no one seems to care
No attention to the pain
you go through

Imagine (It's All Up To You)
Mallory
Johnson / Socan
Imagine to be in a world
where no one frowns
Imagine to live in a fairytale
let nothing get you downPut on a smile
and let your wonders guide your way
Put your worries behind you
and start a new day
Make others happy
appreciate what people do
Let nothing try to stop you
Imagine a world with no war
where we all get along
Imagine a world without conflict
and nothing goes wrong
Put on a smile
and be glad that you're alive
Think of the others
that may not survive
Show them there's hope
in everything that they do
Remember it's all up to you
Imagine a world without hunger
where a child is a child
Imagine the lives that we'd save
if we'd go that extra mile
Put on a smile
and hold your children tight
Let the arms that wrap around them
not be the ones that fight
Make them feel safe
and confident in what they do
Remember it's all up to you

Memories of You
Gordon
Cormier / Socan
Nothing much has changed
in the valley
The river still flows to the sea
And although I don't feel any older
I'm not the young man I use to be
There's the old two-story
house that I grew up in
And the tractor that my
daddy use to drive
The memories of my
childhood here surround me
The ole home sure makes
me feel alive
There's the ole tree,
that we carved our names in
And the swing where we sat
& talked for hours
It was so long ago, but so
clear in my mind
The memories I have of loving you
I walked by your old
home just this morning
The grass is growing
wilder every day
The old tree in the
back yard's barely standing
And the siding on the
house is turning gray
But It stands there
as a constant reminder
Of how a love can slip
& fade away
I wonder if you ever
think about me
The way I think of
you most every day

I'm Free
Gordon
Cormier / Loretta Johnson / Socan
Take back all the things you gave me
I don't need them any more
I don't want your feather pillows
cause I'm sleeping on the floor
And you can keep your fancy diamond
it didn't mean a thing
I can live my life without you
and I'll never wear your ring
Now I'm free as a gypsy
with no one to slow me down
I'm free as the wind
blowing through this harbor town
Gonna leave you far behind me
just you wait and see
Now I'm free
All my friends said I was crazy
and you'd never settle down
But I stayed there right beside you
trying to stand on solid ground
And you'd act like you were single
when not in front of me
But I'm through with all your lying
this is how it's gonna be
My parents always told me
to be nobody's fool
I tried so hard to listen
still I ended up with you
The door is finally open
nothing's standing in my way
This time it's really over
and that's all I've gotta say

Back To The Sea
Gordon
Cormier / Socan
I've been seven months
aboard a shiny vessel
Traveling all across the ocean wide
And the Captain promised lots
of fun & pleasure
With the girls awaiting
on the other side
With the girls awaiting
on the other side
We've landed at the dock
in St. John's Harbor
And I've more than just
a penny to my name
The captain gave us all
a handsome bonus
For braving out across
the Spanish Main
For braving out across
the Spanish Main
There's a dandy little
place that I'll take ya
If only you will come along with me
I've been 7 months aboard and
I'm finally back on shore
Lets have a time before
it's back to sea
Lets have a time before
it's back to sea
We've landed after dark
at Lonesome Johnny's
Where the music and the
liquor's flowing free
And I'll dance away the
night with Maryellen
She's the pretty lass that's
standing next to me
Ah the pretty lass that's
standing next to me
Will I ever find a girl
and choose to marry
Or a rambling rover will I always be
But I love the life of living on the ocean
And tomorrow I'll be heading
back to sea
Aw tomorrow I'll be heading
back to sea

Show The Way
Gordon
Cormier / Loretta Johnson / Socan
Today I sat down on an old man's knee
And said Grandpa, could you
please tell to me
Why grownups never listen
to a word I say
They just don't have time
for me today
I say my prayers at
bedtime every night
And pray to God if I
could do things right
That mom & dad would
notice me today
I know they might have
better things to day
Rain never falls from a clear blue sky
And you can't turn back time
when it's gone by
But you can change tomorrow
by the things you do today
Let the love that's in your
heart show you the way
The little girl just couldn't understand
Why tears filled the eyes of
this great man
He said child, I know
exactly how you feel
Sometimes I think their
hearts are made of steel
I wish I had the answers
to make you see
But just like you they have
no time for me
I spend most of my days
and nights alone
Now that my kids have
lives of their own

Last Kiss
Mallory
Johnson / Socan
I remember it was Christmas eve
Snow all aglow upon the ground
But the sickness I didn't know
in my Daddy that was found
I can remember him lying there
In a bed with bars on each side
Watching him sleeping peacefully
so why did Mommy cry
I was only the age of 5
How was I to understand
When he looked at me smiled at me
as he held my hand
My dear little girl I'm sure
you'll make me proud
Give Mommy lots of company
let no one put you down
Live every day like it's your
last and promise me you'll do this
Be kind to others, love each other
let me give you my Last Kiss
Our lives always go so fast
So much confusion in my mind
For a young girl I had no idea
why can't our lives rewind
If I could see him one more time
And go back to that very day
I'd tell him how much
he means to me
I'd say I love you in every way
If he could look at me once more
And smile in his certain way
And whisper softly in my ear
I know I'd hear him say.
There's a gift that wrapped
with love and care placed
under the Christmas tree
But the best gift I can ever give
Is a kiss, the last kiss from me.
